There weren't too many instructions at the beginning of day two except for one important one - "make sure that you turn left at the intersection 7kms back down the hill you climbed yesterday " !
" Do not go straight on otherwise you'll be heading back to Khorog" !
As you'd expect in a large group there's always one who misses the instructions and in this case it was our burly ex UK detective John who merrily sailed past the turn off before back tracking 3kms after he'd noticed that the road he was on was becoming decidely lonely !
Todays ride provided for further expansive views of the Pyanj river delta against distant snow capped Mountains in the Hindu Kush on the Afghan side of the river.
Our fairly flattish ride took on a full accompaniment of potholed roads !
Just short of our destination we passed a closed (because of terror concerns) border bridge. When open the bridge allows for locals to convene in a lively cross border market to exchange goods & produce
While the days riding wasn't extreme the sun was pretty intense ! Following arrival at our accommodation search parties went out into the nearby town to grab anything cold (namely beer) !
Following the days dry and dusty conditions I succeeded in downing a 1 litre bottle of Coke without too much difficulty
With Pasta and Potato on the menu the signs are that the tough days are just over the horizon !
An out of the world cycle through one of the least visited planets on Earth. Travelling beside the Wakkan Corridor and the Afghan Border we head inland to the high altitude Pamir plateau before crossing the 4655 metre Ak Baital pass into Krygyzstan ! Another amazing Redspokes Adventure !
